HILLSBORO, Wis. (WFRV) – A motorcyclist was airlifted with life-threatening injuries after a high-speed crash in Wisconsin on Saturday night.
According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, a Hillsboro police officer was conducting traffic enforcement around 10:30 p.m. when a motorcycle entered the city limits at 74 mph. The rider passed another vehicle and continued at a high rate of speed toward the residential and business areas of the city.

The officer activated emergency lights and siren but lost sight of the motorcycle near the 800 block of Water Avenue.
A short time later, the officer found the crashed motorcycle near the parking lot of Emplify St. Joseph’s Hospital. The rider was discovered unresponsive in the lot. The officer alerted emergency room staff and began life-saving efforts with their assistance.
The operator was flown to a hospital in La Crosse with life-threatening injuries.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol’s Technical Reconstruction Unit are assisting with the investigation. The rider’s name is being withheld due to the seriousness of the injuries.
