GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Following months of speculation about what would happen between the Green Bay Packers and star cornerback Jaire Alexander, the team is reportedly releasing him.
As first reported Monday morning by the NFL’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers are releasing Alexander after what Rapoport called “an offseason of uncertainty.
Alexander was drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 2018 draft and has spent all seven seasons of his career in Titletown.
Over the course of those seven seasons, Alexander collected 287 total tackles, 3 forced fumbles, and 12 interceptions, earning him Pro Bowl honors twice.

In his last two seasons with the team, he has battled injuries that kept him out for multiple games, as he played in just seven games in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Rapoport stated that the two sides, the Packers and Alexander, both agreed to seek out a potential trade at the start of the offseason. Those potential trades never came to fruition by the 2025 NFL Draft, leading to discussions about a potential pay cut and a restructured contract in an attempt to keep him on the roster.
After both sides couldn’t agree to terms on that end either, Rapoport says the Packers are deciding to release the 2x Pro Bowler.
