GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – A new chapter in community-driven development was celebrated this afternoon as local leaders, students, and nonprofit partners gathered for a ribbon cutting and open house at 929 N. Broadway in Green Bay.
The newly constructed home, built in partnership with the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, NeighborWorks Green Bay, Forward Community Investments, GLC Minerals, and the Green Bay Area Public Schools, is more than just a house—it’s a symbol of what cross-sector collaboration can achieve.
High school students were at the heart of the project, gaining hands-on experience in construction while contributing to a growing effort to expand affordable homeownership in the area. Proceeds from the eventual sale of the home will be reinvested into future development projects, creating a sustainable model for ongoing community impact.

“This home is the result of an innovative partnership blending philanthropic support, public investment, and educational opportunity,” said Erika Ritchie, Public Relations & Communications Manager for the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation. “It’s a testament to what’s possible when we come together with a shared vision.”
The event also marked the local kickoff of NeighborWorks Week (June 7th through 14th), a national celebration of resident-led action, community strengthening, and collaborative problem-solving.
Attendees, including media and local residents, toured the home, met student builders and project leaders, and heard remarks from key stakeholders. Informational materials, refreshments, and on-site interviews offered insight into the broader impact of the initiative on housing, workforce development, and youth engagement.
NeighborWorks Green Bay, a cornerstone of the community since 1982, played a critical role in the project. Over the past four decades, the organization has helped nearly 4,000 families achieve homeownership and leveraged over $595 million in community investment.
“This isn’t just a home—it’s an investment in people, in neighborhoods, and in the future of our city,” said a representative from NeighborWorks Green Bay. “We’re proud to help students see the tangible results of their hard work, and to contribute to affordable housing solutions at the same time.”
