KAUKAUNA, Wis. (WFRV) – The Kaukauna Goats are back at work, eating buckthorn and other invasive plants at 1000 Islands Environmental Center.
The goats will be on-site from June 9 to June 23, and the community is encouraged to visit the environmental center to see them in action as they help manage invasive species.

While many nature centers, park departments, and other organizations hire outside companies to bring in goats or sheep for invasive plant control, the Kaukauna Goats have always been and remain fully cared for by volunteers and community members who serve as “Goat Watchers” while the animals work on-site.
1000 Islands was one of the first organizations in the Fox Valley Area to use goats for invasive species management, and the program continues to be entirely run by volunteers with the support of the community.
