DE PERE, Wis. (WFRV) – Around 20 firefighters from the Greater Green Bay Area responded to a fire on Monday afternoon in De Pere.
According to the De Pere Fire Department, at around 12:30 p.m., fire personnel were sent to the 600 block of Foxview Avenue for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found moderate smoke on the main level of the one-story home. The fire was located in a basement storage room and was quickly extinguished.

Damage was contained to the storage room and its contents, with minor smoke damage throughout the rest of the home. All occupants of the house had self-evacuated.
Four engines, one ladder, one ambulance, two command cars, and around 20 firefighters from the area responded to the call. Departments assisting De Pere included those from Ashwaubenon, Lawrence, Hobart, and County Rescue.
Crews were on the scene for about two hours, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The De Pere Fire Department is reminding residents that extension cords should only be used as temporary wiring and should not be run under rugs, in walls, or buried under leaves or mulch outside.

The estimated damage to the home and contents is around $40,000, and the occupants are staying with family for the evening.
