Deputies say it was quickly determined that Hernandez-Flores was a suspect in distributing controlled substances such as methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana to minors in the area.
During the traffic stop, K9 Luke of the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office was used to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle, and the dog alerted to the presence of a controlled substance inside. A subsequent search, conducted by an officer with the Independence Police Department, uncovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and other signs of distribution, including empty plastic baggies and a digital scale.
Hernandez-Flores was arrested and taken to the Trempealeau County Jail on drug charges.
